PRIVATE SCHOOL STORIES IN MAINTAINING QUALITY IN THE MIDDLE OF COVID-19 ‘CRISIS’
Jakarta: Islamic Middle School, Cendekia Cianjur, West Java, strives to maintain and improve the quality of learning services amid the corona virus pandemic (covid-19). Although, school’s income is declining due to the fact that parents are having trouble paying tuition fee since their economy is affected by the pandemic. School Principal of Islamic Middle School Cendekia Cianjur, DeraNugraha, emphasized, they want to continue to gain the trust of the parents by providing a qualified learning service. This initiative is believed enabling the school to create distinguished identity, especially for low-cost private schools.
“The quality of online education services that we provide. Well, the principal’s job to ensure that income decline occurs because of the economic ability of parents increasingly impacted economically by covid-19,” said Dera during the Webinar on Financial Challenges for Low-Cost Private Schools During Pandemic, Wednesday, June 10th, 2020.
Dera claimed to have reduced education funding (UDP) to ease the burden of parents, although there are still those who are not satisfied with the policy. However, he said, his school is still committed to providing quality learning services as compensation for parents who continue to pay UDP.
He explained, Islamic Middle School Cendekia Cianjur chooses ‘Guru Penggerak’ (teachers as key mover) as their learning method by having millennial teachers as their key movers to create online learning guidelines for teachers and other educators.
“We chose to gather the millennial generation who are capable of learning technology. We do traininginternally, we arrange what platformswe will use,” he explained.
Dera claimed to be directly involved in conducting academic supervision. At present, he said, Islamic Middle School Cianjur has prepared a school Learning Management System (LMS) platform as anticipation should the distance learning (PJJ) still continues.
